Survivor: Winners at War, Episode 7 "We're in the Majors" Review

"Get Denise for me!"
-Sandra Diaz Twine

Another brutal episode of Survivor: Winners at War.  It was a solid episode, but I'm really bummed that Yul was voted out, especially because I'm not so sure it was the smart move.  There was plenty of good and bad gameplay in this episode, so let's take a closer look.

Who Played Well:

Staring over on Dakal, Denise and Jeremy made the right call in bringing Kim into their trio.  Kim is much more predictable than Tony.  Kim did a good job of making sure she wouldn't be next to go and that Tony would be if they lost the Immunity Challenge.

On Yara, Sarah and Sophie are playing the boys like a fiddle.  I really liked Sarah's willingness to dump out her bags to prove she doesn't have the Idol.  And somehow Sophie has completely convinced everyone she doesn't have the Idol.  That's why she's my winner pick!

Who Sucked:

Sticking on Yara, I don't know why Adam and Ben are being so antagonistic with each other.  It's going to end up taking them both down.  They both needed to chill out about the Idol and play it cool, especially Adam.  He's on the bottom of his tribe and needs to work the social game to change that.

Moving over to Sele, Nick and Michele made the wrong move in going after Yul.  Honestly, Michele should have been the person to go to keep things Dakal strong, but she wasn't even considered.  Yul was a much more reliable ally than Wendell.  Nick made a terrible move in turning on him.  Michele's situation is a little more confusing.  Based on what we're seeing, Michele and Wendell seem to not get along.  It seems like a no-brainer that Michele should get rid of Wendell.  I can only assume that there is more going on there that we're not seeing, but based on what we've been shown, Michele also made a bad move.

Finally, Wendell did manage to get rid of Yul, who was coming after him, but he never should have been in the position.  If his social game was better and if he didn't piss off his tribe in the challenge (which was somewhat justified, when you think about Wendell's time in Ghost Island), he wouldn't have been in this predicament and Michele could have gone home.  He got himself out of the hole he dug, but he still put himself there to begin with.

We really didn't get much from Tony in this episode.

As for Yul, he just got a little too cute with his plan to get Wendell's Fire Tokens.  Everyone needs to chill out about these Tokens and just focus on the game in front of them.

Shout-out to Sandra for leaving the game.  I would like to think she left because she hates the Edge of Extinction twist so much.  That would be amazing.

Verdict:

The Best Player of the Episode this time is Kim Spradlin.  She was in a situation where either her or Tony were going to be on the bottom and she made moves to ensure it was Tony and not her, which sets her up very nicely going into the merge.

The Worst Player of the Episode goes to Nick Wilson for voting out Yul, which was just a terrible move for him.  I really don't know what he was thinking.

This was probably my least favorite episode of the season, but it's still miles better than anything in the post-merge of Island of the Idols.  That said, I'm really excited to see how this merge shakes out and I'm beyond stoked that Tony is somehow still in the game!
