 "Disappointing you is like choking the Little Mermaid with a bike chain." -Jeff Winger It's Family Day at Greendale and the day begins with a shock for Jeff (Joel McHale) when Professor Slater (Lauren Stamile) breaks up with him.  Jeff tells the rest of the study group who try to offer him comfort and support, but Jeff brushes them off.  He says that since he was the one who was dumped, he can go on the rebound immediately and leaves to hit on a girl named Amber, (Katharine McPhee), who turns out to be Pierce's (Chevy Chase) ex-stepdaughter and his favorite of all his ex-stepchildren.  Pierce quickly shuts down Jeff's attempt to hit on her. Later, Pierce is having trouble connecting with Amber and is scared she will leave, so he asks Jeff to wingman him with Amber.  Jeff refuses at first, but Annie (Alison Brie) guilts him into helping.  It seems to work, but when Jeff tries to leave at Pierce's request, Amber stops him and they start to make out.  Pi...

It's that time again: The Snubby Awards!  For those of you who don't know, the Snubby Awards take a look at all of the Best Picture nominees from a given year and determine if the best film won or if another was snubbed.  If that's the case, they win the coveted Snubby Award! This time we'll be taking a look at the 1998 Oscars, which was a mostly great selection of movies.  I really liked four out of the five, with two of them being downright incredible  The nominees were: As Good as It Gets, The Full Monty, Good Will Hunting, and L.A. Confidential with the winner being Titanic . Did Titanic  deserve to win or did another movie get snubbed?  Let's find out! #5.  "Put your tongue in her ear." -Pierce Hawthorne "Physical Education" picks up with Jeff arriving at Greendale wearing a special outfit he picked out for his first day of Billiards class.  And before class starts, Jeff does indeed look very cool while playing pool.  However, Coach Bogner (Blake Clark) arrives and tells them all they need to wear P.E. uniforms for class, which include very short shorts.  Jeff gets self-conscious and tries to argue with Bogner.  He challenges Bogner to a game, but Bogner will only play Jeff if he wears the uniform, so Jeff leaves the class. Meanwhile, Troy (Donald Glover) finds a drawing of Abed (Danny Pudi) with hearts around him in his used, Spanish textbook.  The rest of the group decides to work together to find whoever drew the picture and set her up with Abed.  Abed isn't really interested, but agrees to go along with the group.  They discover a girl named Jenny Adams (Carrie Wiita) is the book's previous owne...

 "I think my husband was infected." -Charlotte Lovell When his missing father is legally declared dead, Blake Lovell (Christopher Abbott) takes his wife and daughter to his father's house to pack it up, but on the way, they are attacked by some sort of animal that can apparently walk on two legs.  Blake is wounded by the beast and starts to change... What Works: I enjoyed the 1st act of the movie quite a bit.  It does a good job of setting up the strained relationship between Blake and his father and then informs us about who Blake is as an adult and what his relationship is like with his family and his struggle in not turning into his father.  Then we get the initial car crash and the race to the house.  All of that is exciting and well done.  It sets up the rest of the movie well, but the rest of the movie fails to execute even with a solid setup.  "Have you met me?!" -Señor Chang "Communication Studies" picks up with a happy Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) enjoying his low-maintenance relationship with Professor Slater (Lauren Stamile).  Slater has to chaperone Greendale's Valentine's Day Dance the next day and Jeff decides to join her. Jeff gets a voicemail from a very drunk Britta (Gillian Jacobs) with Booty Call Implications.  When Jeff plays it for her to roast her, Britta gets very embarrassed and leaves.  Abed (Danny Pudi) overhears their conversation and is concerned that the power balance between Jeff and Britta has shifted too far.  Jeff is skeptical at first, but notices that Britta is acting weird and awkward around him, even when he tries to make her feel better. Jeff asks Abed for advice on how to fix the situation with Britta and Abed suggests Jeff drunk dialing her back.  Jeff tries acting drunk, but isn't convincing enough for Abed.  Afraid that Britta might leave the group if the sit...

Wow, did we have some bad movies this year.  Normally, when I do my Worst Movies of the Year list, it's mostly horror movies, and that's still true this year, but we also got an abnormally high amount of superhero movies on the list.  From Best to Worst, here is my list! #10. The Watchers I'll give The Watchers points for creativity.  It follows a group of people who get trapped in a strange room in the middle of the woods and are watched by mysterious creatures at night.  That's a great premise!  It has a few interesting moments and great cinematography, but the movie has some serious pacing issues.  The 2nd act isn't as interesting as it could have been and the 3rd act is genuinely terrible.  Plus the characters are very stupid. #9.  "You don't see me saying anything crazy about Abed and Troy's weird, little relationship." -Shirley Bennett "Romantic Expressionism" picks up with Jeff (Joel McHale) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs) spotting Annie (Alison Brie) and Vaughn (Eric Christian Olsen) flirting with each other.  Later, Annie asks for Britta's blessing to date Vaughn and reveals that she has given up on ever dating Troy (Donald Glover) because he seems more interested in Abed (Danny Pudi) than anyone else.  Britta gives Annie her blessing, which angers Jeff, who says creepier and creepier guys will now see Annie as an option.  Later, Star-burns (Dino Stamatopoulos) mentions to them that he has the hots for Annie, which resolves Jeff and Britta to break up Annie and Vaughn to set her up with Troy instead. Jeff and Britta tell Troy that Annie is in love with him and using Vaughn to make him jealous.  Troy attempts to flirt with Annie in front of Vaughn.  Annie admits that she used to h...

We've reached the end of 2024 and it's time for me to rank my Top 10 Movies of the year!  There were a lot of great movies this year and it was tough to cut some movies from my Top 10.  And the Top 3 are all absolute bangers with 1st place being one of the best cinematic experiences I've ever had.  Let's take a look! #10: Longlegs Longlegs made me think a lot of Silence of the Lambs  combined with The X-Files. This is a police procedural following FBI agents in the pursuit of a serial killer.  Pretty straightforward on paper, but this is a movie that goes off the rails with its story and a fantastic performance from Nicolas Cage.  The direction and cinematography are both fantastic, but I do think the movie missed a few opportunities to get even scarier. #9. Lisa Frankenstein A love story between a teenage girl and the corpse she brings back to life.  I think I definitely liked this movie more than most people.  It's a total vibe movie that I real...
