"Relationships are diabetes times ten." -Eric Cartman This episode of South Park is actually the first episode of The Scott Malkinson Show.   When a new girl, Sophie Gray, comes to South Park, Scott gets a crush on her when he finds out she also has diabetes.  Trying to impress her, Scott lies and says he has Disney Plus and invites her over to watch The Mandalorian .  He gets his hands on a black market Disney+ account, but something goes wrong and the streaming service doesn't work. Scott and Sophie travel to other kids' house, but no one's streaming services are working.  When some of the other boys try to impress Sophie, Scott threatens the others and tells them to leave his girlfriend alone.  Sophie tells him she is not his girlfriend.  Scott sadly leaves.  Later, Sophie goes to see Scott and they form a friendship and bond over having diabetes. Scott's father, Clark, is a cable repairman and is infuriated about losing business...

Creed II (2018) Review

-Break him. -Ivan Drago Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan), now the World Champion of boxing, is challenged by Viktor Drago (Florian "Big Nasty" Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who killed Adonis' father back in Rocky IV .  With Creed's life moving forward, he has to decide how to handle Drago's challenge. What  Works: Michael B. Jordan is pretty incredible in the role.  He gets to showcase a wider range of emotions this time around.  We get to see his anguish, fear, and joy.  It's a powerful performance, with his two best moments being when he screams out while underwater and when he realizes his daughter may be deaf.  It's heartbreaking stuff. Sylvester Stallone is fantastic as ever as Rocky Balboa.  He doesn't have as much to do this time around, but he has to face his regrets (like the rest of the characters) and his past.  It's a good story for him and a great performance. The Drago's are inc...

Survivor: Island of the Idols, Episode 11 "A Very Simple Plan" Gameplay Analysis

"I'm Noura.  I'm crazy." -Noura Salman This was a very confusing episode of Survivor and I really don't know why a lot of it happened.  Confused as I am, I still have to take a look at the gameplay and figure out who played well and who...didn't.  Let's get to it! Who Played Well: Janet, Lauren, and Tommy all managed to hang onto the majority by getting rid of Karishma.  While there were better targets to go after than Karishma, I don't think it was a bad move for any of them.  Lauren also managed to win a tough Immunity Challenge. Who Sucked: Dan may have been able to stay in the majority, but he helped eliminate Karishma, one of the only people he stood a chance of beating.  I think it's impossible for him to win the game. Dean may have gained some ground with Tommy after possibly saving him, but I can't figure out why he helped vote Karishma out instead of Noura.  It makes no sense.  I can only assume Nou...

South Park, Season 23, Episode 8 "Turd Burglars" Review

"Am I just an Airbnb in Santa Clarita?" -Kyle Broflovski Season 23, episode 8 of South Park follows Sheila Broflovski, who becomes seriously ill and needs a fecal transplant.  The transplant is successful and Sheila is healthier than ever.  Several of Sheila's friends are jealous and bribe Stan, Kenny, and Cartman into stealing Shelia's poo so they can have a fecal transplant of their own. Kyle learns about all of the microorganisms that live in his body and becomes very distressed with this information. The fecal transplants go wrong and the ladies of South Park get very sick and spread the infection to the rest of the town.  Stan, Kenny, and Cartman attempt to steal the feces of Tom Brady, which is referred to as "The Spice Melange."  Kyle and his microbes arrive and help them find Brady's feces and use it to save the town. What Works: This episode presents itself as "One For the Ladies," and this tone reminds me of a few ...

Knives Out (2019) Review

"This is a twisted web." -Benoit Blanc After successful mystery author, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), apparently commits suicide, private detective, Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is hired to take a closer look.  What he discovers is a hornet's nest of a family where everyone had a motive to kill Harlan and no one is innocent. What Works: Daniel Craig is easily the best part of the film.  I'm a big James Bond fan, so it's pretty odd for me to see him in this role.  His accent is absurd, but he fully commits and gives us a great character.  I would love to see a series of films with Benoit Blanc solving more cases. Chris Evans is another stand out.  It's unusual to see Captain America play such a jackass.  Evans does a great job here and has some really funny and intense moments.  He's a much more complex character than he seems. Ana de Armas is great as our main protagonist, Marta.  She's fascinating character in ...

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019) Review

"Mr. Rogers knows my name." -Andrea Vogel Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) is an investigative reporter who is struggling with life as a new parent and his father's (Chris Cooper) attempts to reconnect with him.  Lloyd is unexpected assigned to write a profile on beloved television icon, Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks).  Lloyd has no idea his interviews with Mr. Rogers are going to change his life forever. What Works: Tom Hanks is wonderful as Mr. Rogers and I don't think anyone else could have played this role.  Hanks was born for this film and pulls it off magnificently.  He captures the spirit of what Mr. Rogers tried to do and I forgot I was watching Tom Hanks pretty quickly. Matthew Rhys is also great in the film.  Unexpectedly, he's the main protagonist.  The movie is about how Mr. Rogers affected him, not about Mr. Rogers himself.  Rhys is more than up to the task and gives us a sympathetic and relatable character, even if he is unl...

Survivor: Island of the Idols, Episode 10 "Bring on the Bacon" Analysis

"The Goat Army is assembling." -Dean Kowalski Survivor gave us a really fun episode for Thanksgiving, even though it sucks Dan is still around.  I loved the Island of the Idols test and we got some interesting, if not well thought out, gameplay.  Let's get into it. Who Played Well: Out of the remaining eight players, only one person played well in this episode and even they had problems.  Karishma got a fantastic Idol play in and saved herself.  I do wish she had voted for someone other than Janet however.  I get that she thought it was a vote split, but I think she should have voted for the person least likely to work with her.  Janet is someone who could be willing to work with Karishma.  It's tough to say who would have been the best choice, but maybe Dean or Dan. Who Sucked: I'm really mad at the rest of the players in the game for not splitting the vote.  It was such a stupid move and they got lucky that ...
