Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, Episode 10 "A Side Dish of Chaos" Gameplay Breakdown
"I need to sit down."
-MrBeast
I think MrBeast got incredibly lucky. I'm not a fan of his Super Beware Advantage twist, but I think it worked out about as well as it could have. But imagine, if you will, the alternate universe where Cirie has to flip the Beast Coin and gets knocked out of the game on a bad flip. Riots. Let's never do this again. Anyway, let's get into who played well and who sucked.
Who Played Well:
Obviously, we have to start with Devens. I like that he revealed his fake Idol. I don't think he would have been able to get much more milage out of that and it served its purpose. Plus, this way Emily can't use that information against him. He also did a nice job of blowing up Jonathan and Stephenie's spot. It feels like he contributed to Stephenie getting voted out. Finally, it seems like he was the primary target going into Tribal Council, so I think flipping the Beast Coin was the right call for him and it worked out nicely.
Once again, the people coming for Cirie and her alliance got got by Cirie instead. Everyone else should be targeting Cirie, Ozzy, and Rizo, so it's pretty incredible that they didn't get any votes. They turned it around and protected each other, while keeping all of their advantages, and took out Stephenie. Incredible.
Emily did a good job of doing damage control with Ozzy after voting for him in the previous episode. She did well enough where they were able to hug and later vote together. Plus she got through a chaotic Tribal Council. However, I think getting rid of Stephenie is bad for her. Emily doesn't have many people she can beat and Stephenie was potentially one of them. I still think she can beat Jonathan and Joe so it isn't game over, but she has no wiggle room anymore.
Tiffany won Immunity and kept herself completely safe throughout this chaos. I'll give her a positive score overall, but I do think she could have done more to make the vote go towards a bigger threat than Stephenie. She had Immunity, so she could have pushed harder.
Finally, Aubry made it through the vote, even with her name being tossed out there. Now, I do find it weird that Stephenie was targeting her. It seemed like they were working together earlier in the episode and the rest of the season. What did Aubry do to get targeted? I'm not sure, but she survived it, so good for her.
Who Sucked:
Joe and Jonathan both lost an ally in Stephanie here. I'm not sure where they went wrong, but they blew a big opportunity. Plus Jonathan got kinda snippy with Emily during Tribal Council. Someone is hangry.
As for Stephenine, she was so bad at lying it was comical. She made it easy for Devens and Aubry to torpedo her game. I liked her plans to go after Ozzy, Rizo, and Cirie, but she couldn't keep her group together to make it happen and couldn't defend herself at all.
Verdict:
Best Player of the Episode goes to Rick Devens for revealing his fake Idol when he did, blowing up Jonathan and Stephenie's games, and volunteering to flip the Beast Coin, which saved him and got him an Idol.
Worst Player of the Episode goes to Jonathan Young for losing his number 1 ally and getting snippy with Emily. As a reminder, the eliminated castaway isn't eligible for either Award.
Let's hope that's the last of the celebrity twists and we can just let the rest of the game play out naturally!
