Survivor: Ghost Island Episode 2 Review "Only Time Will Tell"

Naviti's beach has got it going on!
Malolo can't you see, you're just not the beach for me!
-Brady, probably.

Well the tribes were swapped and the game went nuts.  Let's see who played well and who sucked.

Who Played Well:

Starting on new Malolo, the obvious best player was Michael.  He found the hidden immunity idol and he seems to have more Survivor knowledge than I gave him credit for.  Brendan was right next to him, so that kind of sucks, but he knows about the idol and knowledge is power.

On a smaller note, there is Stephanie, who was bold enough to say "I dissent" when asked to send Donathan to Ghost Island.  I'm glad she didn't just let it happen and did her best to give her old tribe mates a fighting chance.

Switching over to new Naviti, let's start with James...holy nice read of a situation, Batman.  James saw right through Domenick and deduced that he was just covering for his real idol.  Incredible.  Then he managed to formulate a brilliant 4-3-1 scheme to send Morgan home, and convinced her new BFF Libby to do it.  James is the new comeback kid.

Moving on to Wendell, who I think made the right choices this episode, in going after Angela.  It wasn't his fault the plan fell apart.  Domenick screwed him over.

Next we have Libby, who I'm glad was skeptical of Chris.  But more importantly, she played with her head and not her heart and took her BFF Morgan out of the game.

Who Sucked:

Let's start with Malolo, which will be quick because the only person who sucked was Bradley.  He should have stayed invisible.  He's rubbing everyone the wrong way with his complaining and negative attitude.  We get it.  You miss your old beach.  Shut the hell up.

We have much more to talk about back on Naviti, starting with Domenick, who had another mixed night.  Good on him for picking up that Chris was going to flip.  And he had a good enough relationship with Morgan to net him the Legacy Advantage.  And I see where revealing his fake hidden immunity idol could have worked, but James saw right through him.  It'l be interesting to see what he does next.  He's got some ideas, but this time they screwed himself, Wendell, and especially Morgan over.

Now to his mortal enemy, Chris, who did the right thing to flip on his tribunates.  He doesn't trust Domenick and he shouldn't.  But the way he tried to get Angela and Libby on board was not good.  He's got to work on his social skills.

Then there's Angela, who is doubling down on the loyalty thing way too early.  Hopefully this vote will be a reality check for her.  Going to rocks at 18 is ludicrous.  Plus she spoke way too much at Tribal Council.  Honesty and loyalty are great in the real world, but she's got to dial in back to survive this game.

We really didn't see Jenna, Desiree, Chelsea, or Laurel.  And while we saw Sebastian, Kelly, and Donathan, they really didn't do much.

Finally, we have Morgan, who actually didn't suck.  I think she made the best moves she could in the situation she was in.  She read correctly that she could't trust Chris.  She made bonds with Libby.  And she didn't want to go to rocks, so she targeted Angela.  She did everything right, but sometimes you still lose Survivor anyway.  Bad break for her.

Verdict:

The winner of the "Stacy's Blog Has Got It Going On Award" is James Lim for his excellent read of Domenick, his brilliant 4-3-1 scheme, and for convincing Libby to go along with it.  Well played, sir. Welcome back to the game.

The "Not The Player For Me Award" goes to Angela Perkins.  She's way too loyal and honest.  She spoke too much at Tribal Council, and was willing to go to rocks at 18.  Crazy.  She got blindsided by everyone on her tribe and didn't get voted out.  She's got to get her crap together, or her days are numbered.

This episode was amazing.  We got a much more balanced edit,  The only person we haven't seen at all now is Chelsea.  The strategy was amazing.  The Tribal Council was epic.  Chris got humanized.  Great stuff.  Keep it up Ghost Island.  Let's keep it spooky.
