Survivor: Ghost Island: Episode 6 "Fate is the Homie" Review

"Maybe I am as fantastic as I think I am."
-Bradley Kleihege

Who Played Well:

Let's start with the new Malolo tribe.  We'll start with Kellyn, who is my new winner pick since Stephanie is gone.  Somehow, she managed to convince Angela to stay Naviti strong and vote James, someone who previous saved her, out of the game.  I have no idea how she did, but she pulled it off.  Major props.

Next, we have Michael.  Since he voted for James, I can only assume he found out the women were all voting for James, and he piled on so as not to piss off Desiree.  With no hope of saving James, this was a good move of self-preservation for Michael.

Let's go on over to Naviti.  We'll start with Mr. Fantastic himself, Bradley.  He immediately reignited his connection with Domenick and got some major intel about Libby from him.  He's in a very good spot I think.

Speaking of Domenick, I think he may have had his best night so far.  He's in the best position on his tribe.  He has connections with Bradley, Chelsea, and Donathan and has set the target on Libby.  Plus he led his tribe to victory.

Donathan obviously has a solid social game as Domenick wants to keep him around.

Next, our new tribe, Yanuya.  Laurel was great tonight.  We know she can't stand Chris, yet she puts up with him and keeps a good relationship with him.  Great stuff.

Then we have Wendall, who is in a great spot.  He has a bond with Laurel and he immediately reconnects with Chris and Sebastian, even though Chris annoys him.  Giving the seashell to Sebastian was a great move and I like his chances going forward.  Even though he made a mistake in the challenge, he stayed calm and led his team to first place.  No one is going to remember that blunder or care about it anymore.

Who Sucked:

Over on Malolo, we have Angela, who I do think made the wrong move voting out James.  She had some sort of connection with James, and she shouldn't consider voting with Naviti long term.  She should not trust them.  I don't understand her rational and don't think she's very good at this game.

We also have Desiree, who blew the puzzle part of the challenge hard.  Yelling at her teammates was great in the first half of the challenge.  Not so much on the second half.  I don't know to what extent she managed to save herself because it looked like mostly Kellyn's doing, but I will give her some credit in surviving the night.

On Naviti, we only have to talk about Libby.  After knocking Morgan out of the game, she clearly hasn't done enough damage control with Domenick and and is now directly in the crosshairs.

On Yanuya, we just have Chris, who may be my favorite character of the season.  He is so oblivious to what a douche he is and rubs everyone the wrong way.  It's fantastic TV, but not great gameplay.

Chelsea, Sebastian, and Jenna really didn't do much this week.

Finally, we have James.  Dude was swap-screwed for sure.  He went from the best position on one tribe to the worst of another.  But he simply did not do a good enough job with Angela both in this episode and on previous episodes.  He should have take her under his wing and acted like family to her.  If he had done that, he may have survived this vote.

Verdict:

The "Stacy's Blog Has Got It Going On Award" goes to Wendell Holland for his recovery in the challenge and for forging and reforging bonds with Sebastian and Chris.

The "Not The Player For Me Award" goes to Angela Perkins for making the wrong move in voting out James.

I liked this episode and we definitely got some interesting combinations in the tribe swap.  I was completely blindsided by the vote.  I am bummed that James was sent home.  I liked his gameplay and truly believe Angela made the wrong move.  It's a bummer, but still a solid episode.
