South Park: Season 23, Episode 6 "Season Finale" Review

"Everybody's had enough of Tegridy Farms."
-Mayor McDaniels

In "Season Finale," Randy finally gets arrested for blowing up people's yards back in "Mexican Joker."  As the Marsh's happily face closing Tegridy Farms, the White family is devastated after their son, Jason, is killed after being run over by a police car and can't even get marijuana to cope.  They end up adopting two Latino children from an ICE detention center and start protesting for the release of Randy.

Randy gets a hold of President Garrison for help and he sends Rudy Giuliani in to assist.  Randy begins to realize what a terrible father he has been.  One of the White's adopted kids, Alejandro, gets fed up with the White's and goes on a violent rampage, which confirms the existence of Mexican Joker.  Randy is released and returns to Tegridy Farms as the farming season comes to an end.

What Works:

I loved the beginning of the episode where Randy is arrested and the Mayor smack-talks Tegridy Farms.  I know Trey and Matt were making fun of those of us who haven't loved the Tegridy Farms storyline, but it was still a great moment.

I also loved how the rest of the Randy's family reacted to the news of Randy's arrest and the probable closure of Tegridy Farms.  Sharon trying not to smile was amazing.  Shelley also got another amazing moment where she is forgotten by Randy during his hearing.  Her reaction is priceless.

Jason getting run over is shocking.  It's been awhile since a longtime character has been killed off.  Jason never had much to do on the show, but it was still a well executed scene.

Finally, the White's going to the ICE detention center and treating it like a animal shelter was amazing.  I was laughing so hard about how amazingly awful this was.  They are my favorite scenes of the episode for sure.

What Sucks:

I was fine with the return of President Garrison, but I didn't love the storyline about him giving Randy advice.  It felt like stuff we'd seen before.

Finally, I don't know how to feel about the ending.  I'm nervous that Trey and Matt are just messing with us and we're going to get more Tegridy Farms in the next episode.  I hope not, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Verdict:

"Season Finale" is a solid episode with some really funny moments throughout and one supremely shocking moment.  The Garrison stuff felt too familiar and I'm hesitant about the ending, but this episode has still got it going on.

 8/10: Really Good
