Survivor: Ghost Island Episode 8 "Fear Keeps You Sharp" Review

If you took a shot every time someone brought up war in this episode, you'd end up a ghost!

Well, that was a quick war.  Let's take a look at how everyone did.

Who Played Well:

We can start with Donathan and Laurel.  They've done a great job integrating themselves in with the Naviti.  They are now in a strong alliance with Wendell and Domenick and neither one of them are targets.  They're both in a great spot and could go a long way.

Good on, my girl, Kellyn, for winning Immunity.  As insane as this tribal was, I'm sure it felt good to be safe this round.

I typically don't love when players tell people they have idols, but I think with Wendell telling Domenick, they 100% solidified their alliance.  Plus Wendell did a good job of turning people against Chris.  And he hung on to his idol; a bold move, but he read the room correctly and still has his safety net.

Finally, we have Domenick, who, once again, had a mixed night, but it was net positive.  He did a good job of turning people against Chris, and with Mr. Noble out of the way, hopefully Domenick can settle down and go under the radar.  Unfortunately, he did misplay his Legacy Advantage, but I'm not going to fault him too much.  But with Chris gone, I think it's safe to say that Domenick has the largest target on his back.  Good on him and Wendell for trying to patch things up with Chris though.

Who Sucked:

I just have a few minor nitpicks.  Clearly Angela and Desiree read the room wrong.  They weren't on the same page as everyone else when they voted for Libby.  This could definitely come back to bite them, especially Desiree.  At least Angela has the excuse that she was close with Chris and didn't want to write his name down.

Finally, we have Libby.  I'm not sure exactly what she is doing wrong, but she needs to start mending fences.  She was one idol play away from being out of the game.  People are throwing her name out left and right and she needs to do some serious damage control.

We really didn't see much of Chelsea.  Jenna, Michael, and Sebastian didn't really do anything.

Let's talk about Chris, who I am going to miss sooooooooo much.  This guys is TV gold.  But he is a terrible Survivor player.  Good on him for getting the idol, but the fact that he didn't play it at a tribal where he had no vote is astounding.  Way to reverse the curse, bud.  Plus the way he handled the meeting with Domenick and Wendell was horrendous.  I enjoyed his play of leading everyone out to the water well, but I think that probably worked against him.  Terrible player, incredible character.

Verdict:

The "Stacy's Blog Has Got It Going On Award" for this week goes to Wendell Holland.  He handled the Chris situation the best he could, got nearly everyone to turn on Chris, and held on to his idol.

The "Not The Player For Me Award" for this week goes to Libby Vincek.  If Chris was a halfway intelligent player, Libby would be out right now.  She has got to work on her social game and get back in Naviti's good graces.

I loved this episode!  Absolutely epic!  I'm bummed to see Chris go, but psyched to see how this season is going to play out.
